District Outstanding Leader Awards Dinner February 11th, 2012

The Bill Hart District Outstanding Leaders Awards Dinner is Saturday February 11th, 2012 at the SCVi Charter School in Castaic on Hasley Canyon.  The event begins at 5:30pm.  The cost is $20 a person and includes a Steak and Baked Potatoe Dinner, with Salad, Rolls, Beverages and a Dutch Oven Desert.  This year’s theme is The Great Outdoors.

We are asking everyone to bring some photos from their Scouting events from 2011 to share.  There is going to be a Table Decoration Contest.  Along with a chance to applaud our fellow leaders on the outstanding job they do towards helping make this the best District in WLACC!

In order for us to keep this date firm, we need prepayment from 60 people planning on attending by Monday February 6th, 2012.

Scouting’s Journey to Excellence

As we are nearing the end of another great year in Scouting, we are all left wondering how we did providing the best possible program we could for our Scouts.  Most of us are pretty confident that we have accomplished the goals we set out at the end of last year.  The measuring tool that the Boy Scouts of America has developed for us is Scouting’s Journey to Excellence.   A straight forward check list of items that make up a successful Pack, Troop, Team or Crew.  If your are a Leader and have not looked at this list lately, perhaps you should!  If you are parent of a Scout and want to support your child’s Scouting program, you should be aware of what it takes to earn a Gold rating.
