Dear Scout Leaders,
Attached are the Flier, Conduct and Decorum, and the Placement Instructions for Memorial Day Flag Placement on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 9AM.
Please read all carefully and make your reservations according to instructions on the Flier. Every year I get incomplete reservations which result in e-mails and calls back and forth and one complete reservation, even if it takes a day or two longer, serves us both better. There is room for everyone who wants to participate. Please also try to make your reservation by the deadline… I have to forward my counts to the Elks to ensure enough food.
(Side Note: The SCV Veterans Memorial does not provide the patch at this event!! In order for there to be enough patches for all of the participants - each Unit will have to forward thier head count to the Bill Hart District Executive – Jeff Prata by April 30th so we have enough time to order patches!)
The Check-in on May 26 is 9AM and we will need all Leaders, parents and Scouts listening to the orientation. It is so important that you understand the complete instructions as we count all of the flags handed out and there should be none left over nor should you be short any flags. This is a large undertaking and we need your full cooperation to make it run smoothly. Please remember to bring extra pokers for your troop to make a pre-hole for the flags.

The biggest scout cycling event in the west!
Staged again this year from the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area!
All units are invited from all councils – Scouts, Webelos, Crew!
Talk it over in your unit – Put it on your calendar – Send in your registrations asap – Space is limited!

Wow we are 2 weeks away from Scout Expo 2012!!!
I truly hope that you are as excited as I am. We have some pretty cool things on the schedule including the OA TeePee, A Rock climbing Wall, BMX Stunt show, A Dunk Tank, Dutch oven cooking demo and of course your exciting Scout Booths.
I hope that all units have started planning and preparing their booths. If you still need some ideas I have attached a list of suggested booths. Please send me your final booth information no later than May 18th.
How are the coupon book sales going?
We have some great prizes for the top selling scouts. Some of the prizes include CASH, passes to Scooters Jungle, dinner for 2 at Lazy Dogs Café, I hour private Ice Session on the Pond at the Ice Station, Free Skating Academy Enrollment at Ice Station, Free passes for 2 at various theme parks, and more. (donations of prizes are still needed if you would like to help out)
Merit Badge counselors are still needed to participate with meet and greets and/or non complicated badges that the boys can work on at Scout Expo. Please consider signing up as a Merit Badge counselor
Monies collected need to be brought to the Bill Hart District office during regular business hours this week. And we still have a few more books available to send home with you. As an added bonus we have decided to make all commissions $5.00 per book since this is our first year selling!

Cub Twilight Camp Now Open for Registration!

We have found two wonderful ladies to step up and run our Bill Hart Cub Twilight Camp this year, and they have just gotten back from training ready to go!
To register for either Bill Hart Day Camp (June 18 – 22, 2012) or Twilight Camp (July 9 – 13, 2012), please go to our Council Web Site at www.bsa-la.org and go to Camping. Follow the links to Cub Day Camp and click on the registration button for the Day Camp you would like to attend.
Both of the Bill Hart Cub Day Camps are limited to the first 120 Scouts who go on-line and register.
The Early Bird Special price of $100 ends on May 1st. After that the regular price of $130 is the cost.
Don’t wait, our Cub Day Camps fill up fast – because they are the best value in the Santa Clarita Valley! Just ask any Cub Scout who has attended one of our Cub Day Camps lately.
