August Roundtable
August 2, 2009 by Webmaster
August Roundtable for the Bill Hart District will be on Thursday, August 6, at 7:30 PM in the LDS building on the corner of Bouquet Canyon andCenturion Way.
Come early to sign in and have a chance to chat with fellow scouters before it starts. That way you won’t miss anything at the beginning. Leaders for Cubs, Boy Scouts, Varsity, Venturing and all Unit Committee members will meet in the gym promptly at 7:30 for the opening and announcements that apply to all scouting age groups. If you have an item you would like to announce or have announced, please call Chuck Byersat 661-645-1013.
At 7:45 the breakout sessions will begin with the following featured themes:
- Cubbing will have separate sessions for den leaders of Wolf and Bear and for Webelos den leaders. Both sessions will review the program theme for August, “Fun in the Sun,” and will then focus on the program theme for September, “Scouting Pockets.” This refers to collecting things, as in, you never know what collection you may find in a scout’s pocket.
- The Scoutmasters session will focus on the August theme of Boating and Canoeing. Does your Troop’s program include a boat and/or canoe activity at least once each year? This represents one of the very favorite activities for any scout? Come to Manny Valls’ session to learn how to prepare your troop for a month of fun and adventure.
- The Varsity/venture leaders breakout is primarily attended by the LDS leaders of programs for boys 14 and older, but all leaders of this age group are welcome and encouraged to bring their experience into the session.
- A new addition to the breakout session lineup is the 11 Year Old/New Scout Patrol leadership session.
The breakout sessions will end anywhere from 8:30 to 8:45 followed by an informal crackerbarrel where you can get a perspective on your Scouting questions from other leaders’ points of view.
Roundtable for the Bill Hart District is always held on the first Thursday of each month at the LDS building on the corner of Bouquet Canyon andCenturion Way. Doors open for set-up before 7 PM and Roundtable starts promptly at 7:30 PM.
At 7:45 each leadership contingent breaks out to individual rooms for sessions that focus on the featured monthly themes that are included in the Scouting Magazine for all unit leaders. The breakout sessions end between 8:30 and 9 PM.
