Reserve your spot now with the Western Los Angeles County Council Contingent! WLACC will be sending a contingent of 164 scouts and 20 leaders to celebrate BSA largest birthday party.
What is Jamboree? This is a get-together of more than 35,000 scouts for amazing and fun activities, getting to meet and know other scouts from all over the USA and even other countries, participate in dynamite arena shows (maybe even the President will visit), having fun while experiencing the true brotherhood spirit of scouting. National Jamborees occur once every 4 years — this one has been delayed by a year to 2010 so it coincides with our 100th anniversary.
Who can go? Scouts who are at least 12 but not older than 18 and at least First Class rank at the time of Jamboree who are registered and active in their troops, have been interviewed and selected to represent our council, participated in the pre-jamboree meetings, paid their own way and agreed to the Code of Conduct. Since we are limited to sending 164 scouts from our council, signing up now is important! Complete the pre-registration form, and get it into our council office with your $200 (refundable) deposit to be included in the early interview and selection process. Scouts from many troops in our council are assigned to one of the 5 contingent troops, formed just for the purpose of going to Jamboree. Each contingent troop elects its Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol leaders and other leaders.
Cost is yet to be determined, and will be a function of the jamboree fees, and travel dates and arrangements. We are estimating the cost to be between $3100 and $5200, depending on the length and location of the pre and post jamboree tours.
Tours Pre and post jamboree tours are being planned. Each contingent troop will attend the jamboree, and each troop visit some fun and very exciting places on the way to or from the jamboree. Some of the tours will include visits to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Amish country, Baltimore, Washington DC, Norfolk, Fredericksburg, Cape Canaveral, and even a Disney Cruise! Tour details will be released very shortly.
How do I sign up?
Complete the preregistration form and send in a $200 refundable deposit. Priority Reservation is based upon date deposit received. Participation is also pending on your selection by the national scout jamboree selection committee and your completion of the jamboree application and code of conduct.
Don’t wait to sign up. Assignment to Jamboree troops will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience.
