February District Update

NEW DISTRICT EXECUTIVE

I would like to welcome our new District Executive, Ana Puga. Ana prefers to go by the name of Gabby. Gabby is an experienced scouting professional, most recently transferring to the Bill Hard District from the Desert District (Mojave area) of the Southern Sierra Council, BSA.

Gabby, grew up in Southern California, in the Imperial Valley Area, but earned her degree at Bringham Young University, in Provo Utah, majoring is Scouting Studies. Gabby has been involved in the Boy Scouts since the age of fourteen, when she joined BSA Venturing.

Gabby says she is looking forward to her position as Bill Hart DE. In the last couple of weeks, since starting her new position, Gabby has been running at full speed, getting to know scouters in the district, local supporters in the Santa Clarity Valley Areas, as will as her fellow staff members in the Council Office.

In all of the rushing around that she has been doing, Gabby had a chance to relax, and unwind a little, at the annual Western Los Angeles County Council’s Recognition Banquet, held at the Odyssey restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, on January 28. But Thursday morning, Gabby was again at ”Full Speed Ahead”

MARK RENER EARNS SILVER BEAVER AWARD

At the recent Council Recognition Banquet, Bill Hart District’s, Mark Rener,received the Silver Beaver Award for his many years of quality service to Scouting in the Santa Clarita Valley.

NEW DISTRICT CHAIRMAN

As many of you know, due to personal reasons, Jim McGrory has stepped down as District Chairman for the Bill Hart District. Jim will continue to be heavily involved in scouting with Troop 583.

In the interim, Greg Bassé will be handling the duties until a new Chairman is elected. Greg is heading up the elections committee to fill this important position, as well as other positions in the district. Feel free to submit names, even your own, to Greg for the many positions available in the Bill Hart District. The committee expects to have elections by the end of February.
